Here's how it works:
Every preseason, you can adjust the position of any hitter in your Low Minors. If the player remains in Low Minors for the full season, he will show up to the following preseason at the new position.
When you use the tool to move a player to a new position, you will see an estimate of what their new RA and GL will be if/when they convert to the new position.
The following refers to the Position Difficulty Chart. Positions are ranked in order of difficulty Left to Right.
The tool allows for players to move as far "to the right" (to an easier position) as you like. A SS can move to any position you choose. Players improve their defensive ratings when they move to the right.
Players can move 1 or 2 spots "to the left" (to a harder position) per season. A first baseman (1B) can move to a corner outfield spot (LF, RF) or third base (3B), but cannot move to shortstop (SS), second base (2B), or centerfield (CF). Defensive ratings decrease when players move to the left.
Depending on the age of the player, there may be a penalty reduction in moving to a harder position in Low Minors the younger the player is, the better this reduction will be.
You can only use the tool to move a player in one direction. Once a player is moved right using the tool, he cannot be moved left using the tool in a following season. Once a player is moved left using the tool, he cannot be moved right using the tool in a following season. You can move a player in the same direction up to 3 times in the Low Minors.
