About CSFBL

CSFBL(tm) - the Computer Simulated Fantasy Baseball League(tm) - is a Web-based baseball simulation game developed by ComputerSims, LLC (http://www.computersims.com). It is constantly under development, and is open to anyone who wishes to participate.

In CSFBL, you get the opportunity to own your own baseball franchise, and be both the General Manager and on-the-field manager. You'll be responsible for scouting your teams and players, making lineup decisions, and putting together the winning combination as you compete against 23 other human controlled teams in your league. If you're good, you'll make the playoffs... If you're great, you'll make the World Series - and you may just win it all!

After each season, you get the opportunity to see your players mature. Young players may (or may never) reach their potential. Veterans may see their skills decline. You'll have to judge when a player still has it and when he doesn't, and when a kid is ready to make it as an every-day player. Players may choose to retire, but that's OK - you'll be able to re-stock your low minors during the mid-season amateur draft.

Special Notes from the lead developer and designer, Brian DeMarzo

I would like to thank the following people for their endless support, guidance, assistance, troubleshooting, pressure, and nagging. Their efforts have been invaluable in the development of CSFBL!

  • James Dudley, who helped build my love for baseball (and most sports), sports games, and statistics. We grew up on baseball and football cards, statistics, Intellivision sports games, and Star Wars. Much of the drive for a project such as CSFBL would never exist if it were not for Jim's endless pursuit of sports over the years (and his uncanny ability to drag me along with him!).
  • Stephen Veeder, for endless encouraging, discouraging, advising, and testing of CSFBL (and many other Web projects). He's kept me going more times than I can count, and many times has been the prod that was needed to get the development processes going. (Further thanks to Steve for keeping the world safe for democracy as a member of the U.S. Air Force, and for constantly sending me the greatest packages in the mail I've ever received!)
  • Wayne Schillo, for his wonderful insights into the innards of CSFBL, and for so many suggestions and recommendations that became critical components of many parts of the game. He's also the recent one to blame for all-too-many features which I don't have time to implement, but thanks to his help and constant pushing, get implemented anyway!
  • Louis Lopez, for the spectacular design of CSFBL that you see here. I may do a fair job at algorithms and programming, but when it comes to design, I'm a lummox. (Take a look at CSFBL before LoLo came to town.) An excellent designer and computer engineer, a dedicated worker, and overall good guy - now, maybe that will convince him to do more design work for some of my other Web sites!
  • Thea, my dog, for keeping me company many times while I was working diligently on the game. She's also been a great listener and has heard just about every algorithm in CSFBL. (Sadly, she doesn't say much in return!)
  • Christina, my wife (yes, I've saved the best for last!), who has accepted the fact that her husband spends most of his time in front of a computer trying to accomplish his life-long dream of writing a baseball simulation game. I've gotten used to the phrases, "What are you DOING in there?!" and "Don't you ever get TIRED of sitting in front of that computer?!"
  • Alyssa, my daughter (yet another best for last, but my wife came first), who was born in May 2005 and will continue the family tradition of love of the game, at least if I have anything to say about it!
